After the Storm

Well I am counting my blessings today.  We are incredibly fortunate to have weathered the hurricane so well.  In my neighborhood there are many standing dead trees and countless 50 to 100 year old trees.  After driving through most of the neighborhood n and I did not see one fallen tree.  Every yard is covered in twigs, pine needles and leaves but that is pretty much the extent of the damage.  We walked down to the beach and were pleasantly surprised by it's overall good condition.   The boat ramp that is our beach access sustained some damage and one very large chunk of the cement was displaced and now precariously sits on the edge of the ramp but other than that things look stable.  It is clear from the seaweed left on the ramp that last nights high tide was even more powerful than what n and I saw mid day yesterday.  It appears that it climbed 1/3 of the way up the ramp.  Mother nature and her wrath is unbelievable.   Even as Sandy moves away from the coast the ocean is still churning.

Sending prayers out to all those who were impacted by Sandy.

Peace!
