Our Word View - Nectar

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word nectar was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

I recently read a book in preparations for a lesson with my students and it included a close up picture of a bee sipping nectar from a flower.  The bee was completely covered in pollen. The picture was a beautiful macro that made me long for my camera and warmer days.  These pictures were taken during the summer.  There is such beauty in the simple creatures of this world.

Peace!

Our Word View - Mature

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word mature was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

The first thought for an image for the word mature was a photograph of hands, my hands and 'n's hands.  Unfortunately I have a horrible head cold....again!  Needless to say I was not up for orchestrating a hand photo shoot.  Perhaps another time.

Mature plantings are one of my favorite photographic subjects.  The plantings do not have to be mine although I am looking forward to seeing and caring for my perennials. It has been a very long winter!  The following image is of a garden from my neighborhood.  I love how the homeowner has beautiful mature lilacs underplanted with pink petunias.  So pretty.  Bring on spring!

Our Word View - Liquescent

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word liquescent, meaning becoming liquid, melting was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

Did you know that the monarch butterfly caterpillar liquifies in it's chrysalis in order for the butterfly to complete it's metamorphosis?  I think it is amazing that a creature could go through such a change and survive.  Nature is truly a gift.

These images show the end stage of such a metamorphosis, just before the butterfly emerges.

Sometimes it takes a keen eye to see the beauty in the most mundane of nature's treasures.  ( a great macro lens also helps! )

Our Word View - Jaded

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word  jaded was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

So when I saw this weeks word I had no idea what to share!  Then I started going through my collection of images.  On a whim I looked through my scanned pictures and found the following two images.  Let me set the stage for you.  I am fairly certain these pictures were taken after a day of celebrating.  It is summertime and I am clearly ticked pink.

When I looked up the word jaded I found the following definition:  adjective
  1. 1.
tired, bored, or lacking enthusiasm, typically after having had too much of something.

The following picture of my dad fits this definition perfectly!  I think he was done with my shenanigans!

Peace!
