Our Word View - Quintessential

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week  the word quintessential  was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

I lost a dear friend earlier this month.  She courageously battled cancer for almost two years without any respite from the insidious disease.  The symbolism and beauty of the dragonfly is quintessentially the essence of my friend. I look forward to seeing the dragonflies descend upon my yard this summer as they will certainly remind me of the beauty in this world and beyond.

Our Word View - Posed

This week  the word posed was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

The following series of pictures are some of my most favorite 'posed' for pictures that I have taken of 'n'.  They are from two years ago.  It's about time for another photo shoot!

Transitions, an excerpt

“The sun sets and the moon sets, but they’re not gone.  Death is a coming together.”  Rumi

Death is both dramatic and subtle.  Over time, the parting of a loved one becomes less harsh as slowly and gently a continued bond is revealed.  As I open my heart to the promptings and guidance of those I love who have passed from the physical sphere, I am alert to the contact, which comes to me in many forms… as memory, as intuition and coincidence.  Rather than bitterly close my heart, I allow myself to maintain a gentle but alert attention to the touch of Spirit.  I remind myself that life begets life and that those I love live on in my loving memory of them.  I also allow for the possibility that my memory lives on in them, triggering their concerned contact in subtle forms.

Today, I deliberately practice open-mindedness.  I cultivate a willingness to experience subtle realms.

excerpt from Transitions by Julia Cameron

These words speak to me.  I have come to believe that there is a thin veil between us and those that have gone before.  If we are aware we can pick up on energy and signs that they are with us always.

Our Word View - Opalescence

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week  the word opalescence was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

So I typically do not struggle with my photos for Our Word View, but this week was difficult.  I finally chose images that I took some time ago that I find lovely and are as close to the mark as I could come.

These pieces of china do have beautiful luster and a level of opalescence that is difficult to capture.

Peace!

Daybook

Outside my window...it is overcast and gray!  Feels more like winter than spring!

I am thinking...that  April vacation can not come soon enough!

I am thankful for...the joy that Flicka brings to my life!

From the kitchen...last night we had crock pot pulled pork that was delicious, tonight I'm making Hellmann's parmesan chicken with veggies and I think Friday will be take out!   Oh and over the past weekend I made french onion soup!  So delish, just like Dad used to make.  Even the children enjoyed the soup.

I am creating...nothing at this moment in time... unusual for me but true.

I am going...to try to actually get out and do something over vacation.

I am wondering...if R will get the 70's band gig.  I hope so.

I am reading...Assessment in Perspective; Focussing on the Reader Behind the Numbers

I am looking forward to... sleeping late next week.

I am learning...to stay in the moment and not sweat the small stuff.

Around the house...there is always something to fix, clean, put away or organize!  Just like every other house. Right?

A favorite quote for today...“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
 A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

One of my favorite things ... seeing little green sprouts shooting out of the ground.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  getting through each day looking forward to vacation.

A photo I'm sharing:

New Look!

For some time now n has wanted to add color to her lovely locks.  We have gone the all natural temporary path using various methods found on Pinterest.  We have even tried products from Ulta in the hopes that we could add a little splash of color to her beautiful curls.  Her hair is such a deep brown that it has been very difficult to effect any noticeable change.  I finally broke down and made her an appointment at the hairdressers for her new look.  She decided to go for the ombre effect that is such a big trend for young people right now.

Here she is before:

And after:

She loves the blond.  As long as she is happy I am happy.

Our Word View - Nemoral

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week  the word nemoral  was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

Nemoralpertaining to or living in a forest or wood.

I find that my focus when I take pictures is often on items at eye level or above.  I have many images focused skyward or meeting the horizon.  It is rare that I turn my attention to the beauty that lays at my feet.  This set of images looks closely at tiny plants and moss that grew last year at the edge of the woods adjacent to my yard.  I find myself enchanted by the perfection found in these tiny plants.

Peace!
