You know you have been teaching for a long time when....
The extra pair of hands to help out in the art class that you are subbing in turns out to be those
of a young woman who just happened to be a student in your very first class of students! Upon further reflection I can see this young woman as a third grader in my mind's eye. Her mannerisms and temperament remain just as delightful as they were all those years ago!
Now I know how my former teachers felt when I started down the path to my career in education observing in their schools and later substitute teaching in their classrooms. It is a very unique feeling; both powerful and humbling somehow.
