I have felt a change coming for a long time.
I've been offered an opportunity to step into a 4th grade classroom as a long term substitute teacher. Typically this type of position comes around rarely and the way it was presented to me was quite unusual. I was at the right place at the right time and I am thrilled. I honestly never thought I'd go back into the public school classroom. There was a time that I was convinced that I would run the school in which I am now teaching. That time is gone. I have to think of my family and my future. I can hardly believe I am thinking like this, but I have to plan for my retirement. I'll be 43 this year and hopefully will only work for another 20 years. The last 20 went in the blink of an eye. So moving toward full time work that will provide benefits and retirement is the best move. I am excited.
So I gave my resignation today. I have been a part of my school in one way or another for the past 10 years. It is hard to believe that I will be leaving that part of my life. The lessons I have learned and relationships I have built will live on.
Here's to change and new beginnings.
Peace!

How exciting for you!
Thanks Alicia. I'm working in the class tomorrow. I'm feeling a bit nervous but I'm sure it will be fine.
Peace!
