Wordless Wednesday

The National Cathedral

After walking the National Zoo all morning we walked for what seemed like miles to experience our National Cathedral.  Some of us wanted to turn back, but D coaxed us on and we were so happy that we persevered!

The fountain was a refreshing respite for some of us as the shade was for others.

The Cathedral was truly breathtaking and awe inspiring.  The history was almost palpable as we walked through the various sections of the building.

With all it's beauty somehow I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness and heaviness.

I used to live just 15 minutes from the Cathedral; I'd spend a few hours a week there, just breathing in the silent beauty.

I wish I could have been there with you: I'd love to have been able to show you some of my favorite spots, places tourists seldom discover.

Oh Alicia I would have loved to explore the city with you! Maybe another time...

I still can't get over the Cathedral. Such a special place. I'd love to know more about the history... think I'll do some research.

Peace!
