There is something so simply beautiful about a summer sunrise.  I group up in a home that overlooked the ocean.  I took for granted the beauty that surrounded me each day.  I am so fortunate that the beach is a short walk away from my home.  I can't wait until the weather turns a bit warmer so that I can get to the beach and enjoy not only the sunrise but the warmth of the sun high in the sky.

There are so many times during the year when we celebrate festive holidays.  Two of my favorite holidays that come to mind include Christmas and July 4th.  The images I chose this week bring both holidays to mind.  The colors say it all.  

I find the reds and greens beautiful together.  In the final picture I see fireworks.

This is the face of my precious pup Flicka.  Her eyes and ears show her eager anticipation of some sort of play activity.  This is the look that appears on her face to this day when she thinks she will get a treat or a special toy.  I love that I can read her expressions.  I am so grateful to have her in my life.

An angry ocean in the middle of winter is one of the more dangerous sights you can see living by the beach.  So far this winter we have been pretty lucky, but we have many weeks before we can even begin to think of spring.  I wonder what the rest of the winter will bring.

Along with the danger there is an amazing beauty.

I often have thought that I should have been born into a different era.  I love looking at old photos and watching old movies where the men and women dress for the day.  There was a time when women wore dresses and men wore suits and hats.  Take this photo for example.  This is a picture of my great grandfather.  The character that exudes from this picture takes my breath away.  What was his life like?  What was his time like?  So interesting.

How I long for the warmth of the beach and soft billowing clouds passing by....  Don't get me wrong I enjoy the seasons and even don't mind a snowstorm now and again but truly what is better than soft clouds passing you by on a warm day?  

This particular image has a postcard like feel.  I love the soft background contrasted by the shiny beach rocks in the foreground.  I can almost smell the ocean.  Ahhhhh.  Well in 21 weeks it will be beach season again and I might find myself longing for soft, crisp snowflakes falling from the sky.

This image embodies two of the many things that I adore; photography and Christmas.  I took this image just before Christmas and spent some time altering the image and adding both text and borders.  I like the end product.

I love going to the zoo with my family.  We have visited the Roger Williams Zoo many times and on R's birthday a few years ago we went to the Franklin Park Zoo.  I truly enjoy photographing animals and nature.  These are some of my favorite 'zoo' photographs.

The wonder of the season always comes alive for me when I unpack my mum's angel ornaments.   The hustle and bustle of the season can take away from the meaning and the simple joys that make us happy during this time of year.  Seeing the tree come alive with ornaments reminds me of what is important.

Every year I am amazed by the variety of marching bands, floats and other displays at the Thanksgiving day parade.  Perhaps my favorite is the Budweiser  clydesdale drawn carriage.  These horses are majestic creatures. I will never tire of seeing them in our parade.  To top off their presentation for the parade this year they included dalmatian riding shotgun in the front of the carriage.  Truly a sight to behold.

Shot these two photos today at America's Hometown Parade.  Do you think that Santa intended for anyone to notice him as he wandered the streets?

I wonder if Santa was thinking about getting into his suit and climbing into his sleigh. 

Shortly after Santa left my area I saw him at work.   He had a busy day.
