Long Time No Write

Hello Everyone! It is hard to believe that it has been so long since I have last posted.

First a bit of business: Kyra thanks for your comment! I want to send out your pay it forward gift but I never got your snail mail. I think you can leave it as a comment and then delete the comment and I will get the email with your snail mail. As soon as I get your address I will send along the cards! I hope you will like them as much as I enjoyed making them!

Anyway back to the post :)

So March was a very busy month. I spoke at the Stand for Children event Conversation about Education. I actually opened and closed the meeting! Had to put on my 3rd grade teacher hat to get everyone's attention at the beginning. We had about 50 attendees. It was actually a larger turnout than I had anticipated so I was so excited. Many of the people in the room were new to us so that was great too. Senate President Terry Murray attended with Rep. Vinny DeMacedo and Rep Tom Calter. They answered many great questions from the audience. I have to say that the audience was quite impressive. Their questions were well thought out and eloquently stated. Yeah for active parents wanting to become more educated and involved. Unfortunately the Senate President painted a bl eek economic picture for Massachusetts. She predicts that property values are going to continue to plummet and that we will truly be in the throws of a recession with layoffs across the board. So hold on you fellow New Englanders we are in for a bumpy ride. Stand is now in the process of gearing up for our Day on the Hill. Stand members from across the Commonwealth are going to pack the state house on Tuesday April 15th. We have meetings set up with key legislators...a total of 85 meetings will be held that morning. We still have space available if anyone out there is interested and would like to see the political process in action. Every meeting has a trained facilitator so unless you are that person, you don't have to say anything just be there in support of funding education. Something different for us this year is that we actually have a revenue piece to our platform. Revenue is a problem in MA and the fact that STAND is trying to help support and create solutions is impressive.
Anyway there is more information on http:/www.stand.org

Well that's all for now. I'm sure I'll think of more to say later.

PEACE!
