Our Word View - AWE

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word awe was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

Over the past week I have been enjoying the most awesome little birds visit my yard.  I have always hoped to have hummingbirds enjoy my garden.  In years past I have enjoyed a rare visit by one or two of these amazing creatures.  Well this year I decided I would increase my odds by hanging a feeder.  Almost immediately three lovely hummingbirds have repeatedly visited my bird feeder.  I am totally in awe of these creatures.  I have spent a lot of time on the deck observing them and really getting them used to my presence in order to capture them with my camera.  They do not like the noise my camera makes and they are very fast!  I have only captured a few images.

Our Word View - Zany

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word zany was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

When I think of the word zany I immediately think crazy, silly and unexpected.  Well for the 29th anniversary of meeting my husband we woke up at 4:30 this morning in order to watch the sun rise over the ocean.  It was romantic and zany at the same time.  Not something we typically do, but it was lovely.  While I originally thought I would just watch and enjoy the sunrise without my camera (another zany idea)  I ended up bringing my camera in order to capture the moment.

Our Word View - YARD

This week the word yard was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

It has been years since I have truly paid close attention to my yard.  Other responsibilities took precedence.  This will be the year we spruce things up.  I am so looking forward to creating beauty with flowers and plantings.  I am excited.  There is much in the neighborhood that inspires me.  The following pictures are from one such yard that is near the beach.  I love the colors and simplicity.

Our Word View - XANTHIC

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word xanthic was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

When I realized I needed to pick a word for X  I nearly panicked!  I went to google to find something interesting.  Xanthic means yellow or yellowish.  As I thought about what picture I would like to pair up with this weeks post many images came to mind.  Funny, though, the image I chose was not something that came to mind immediately.  I love the yellowish tinge you can see in these beautiful flowers.

The yellow really helps the pink to pop.  I can't wait for these plants to start to bloom this year.

Peace!

Our Word View - WATCH

What is Our Word View?  A collaboration between two friends who lost touch over the years but have reconnected online.  We share a love of the ocean, photography, quotes, animals and family.  Often times our photographic interpretations for the word of the week are very similar.

This week the word watch was chosen for our photographic interpretation.  I hope you will go over to Our Word View and see what Liz shares this week.

Over the past month I have watched with the eyes of a scientist along side my students as my friend and colleague S led us through an embryology study - egg to chick.  We have all learned so much along the way.  A little over a week ago our chicks were due to hatch.  We had a 25% success rate.  Six chicks survived out of twenty four fertilized eggs.  In the fifth grade ten or eleven chicks survived. Mother nature is both powerful and astounding.  I was humbled by these tiny, resilient creature.  They all went home on Friday.  Some went home with a 5th grade family and the rest went home to S's house.  I miss them already!

Peace!
